Wine tasting While in general Northern Tuscany is famed for its oil rather than wine production, nearby Montecarlo is our go-to spot for wine. It’s a small hilltop village that is picture perfect and is surrounded on all sides by dozens of vineyards. The centre of the village has restaurants and bars and is a great place to spend a couple of hours on a warm evening. If you want to get under the skin of this town’s wine production then we can arrange a wine tasting for you at one of the vineyards. The wine tasting includes lunch and prices start from €30 per head (as well as a light lunch the price includes tasting of five wines: one sparkling white, one IGT white, one DOC white, one DOC red and the vineyard’s barrel-aged Super Tuscan. For a little extra you can add a tasting glass of Vin Santo. All of this is preceded by a short tour.
